On April 28, Chen Qun, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, visited East China Normal University (ECNU) with Yu Lijuan, Vice Secretary general of the Shanghai Municipal Government, and Lu Jing, Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. They went to the university’s entrance, canteens, dormitories and infirmary to inspect its preventive measures in response to COVID-19 and reopening plan. Mei Bing, Chair of ECNU’s University Council and Qian Xuhong, President of ECNU, were also present during the inspection tour.
Mei gave a detailed report on the university’s preventive measures. She said that ECNU has been fully prepared for the reopening and has made an overall plan consisting of 19 sub-plans.
Qian introduced ECNU’s strategy for first-class university construction and its plan carry out the strategy. He also stated that the university will prioritize the development of the disciplines of education and health.
Chen said high praise for ECNU’s work in COVID-19 preventions and expressed thanks to all ECNU’s faculty and staff for their hard work. He called on the university to bring into full play its disciplinary advantages and make greater contributions to China’s economic and social development.
